Hand Crafted Peruvian Huancayo Maraca
These maracas are just beautiful and make a gorgeous sound when shaken. Each one is slightly different as these are made of a natural fruit called gourds.
Peruvians have been carving gourds as decoration for at least 3000 years. The natural fruit is known locally as mates burilados and is harvested in the central highlands of peru.
These ones have been skillfully opened, cleaned inside and small dried pulses have been inserted into the shaker. Next they are closed with glue and carved and painted in the bright style typical of the Huancayo region.
Suitable for ages 3 plus.
One Maraca per purchase.
Each Maraca is brightly coloured with a fabric band attached to the end of the handle.
Each maraca can differ in length due to the fact they are made from a natural material.
